The list of possibilities is pretty long. From ObamaCare to the economy. From jobs (or the lack thereof) to the mishandling of the gushing oil well in the Gulf. From casualties in Afghanistan to gays in the military. From outrageous and unsustainable government spending to pending cap and trade legislation. And on and on and on.

Suffice it to say that voters are livid and there are plenty of possible reasons for it.

But Barack Obama’s right hand man, the man who’s breath has the ever-present scent of shoe polish, has it all figured out. The reason Americans are furious, according VP Joe “Foot-In-Mouth” Biden, is that we just don’t understand. Plain and simple, America you just don’t get it.

Biden is just coming off his latest round of contemptibly attempted damage control where he not only stated emphatically that the trillion dollar non-stimulating stimulus spending has created several million jobs (or was it ten million, or was it a gazillion), but he did it with a straight face. Like most Americans after hearing his prevarication regarding the number of jobs supposedly created by this mistake to the trillionth power, in an economy that is shedding jobs faster than Nancy Pelosi molting in the spring, I kept waiting for the punch line. But when he was done it dawned on all of us that, Holy Crap!!! He seriously believes we are going to buy this.

And that dear readers, is going to be the focus of the upcoming election season. If the facts don’t match the hype, ignore the facts and switch the blame.

It’s not that the Democrats have lost all sense of reason and responsibility. It’s not that the tried and true standards by which the economy is rated are indicating complete and total failure on a plan that never had a chance in hell of working. It’s not that the Democrat leadership in the House, the Senate and the White House have no clue as to what they are doing. No. That’s not the problem. The problem is that all of us left holding the unpayable bills racked up by this inept community organizer and his band of economic neophytes just don’t understand how truly smart these guys really are.

But you’re wrong Joe. Even with the 4000 plus pages you have created to misdirect us, Americans understand what you’ve done. We may not understand how the healthcare bill that couldn’t pass on its own merits became law anyway through the reprehensible use of cloture, but we do understand the damage you’ve done. And we also understand how to put a stop to it.

November is trundling down the road. As November 2nd, the day of the midterm election, draws near we will hear more and more of how clueless the voters are. It’s up to us to prove Big Joe wrong or to prove him right.

Welcome to U.S. Court System 101

In an obvious attempt to placate a pissed Persian potentate, VP Joe “Footinmouth” Biden said the United States would appeal the recent decision made by the US Federal Court in Washington DC to dismiss charges against five Blackwater Worldwide guards.

Six Blackwater guards had been involved in what can only be described as a massacre when, having been hired to protect US diplomats as they traveled in Baghdad, they opened fire at a crowded intersection and mowed down seventeen people, including women and children. One of the guards pleaded guilty to manslaughter and other charges while the other five pled not guilty. Details of what actual threat was faced at the time of the shooting are sketchy. The guards claim they were under attack. The prosecution claims they were unprovoked. But with a body count of seventeen that includes women and kids the Iraqis had demanded that the Blackwater guards be tried for murder in Iraq, a demand the US refused. Federal Judge Ricardo Urbina said in a December 31st ruling that prosecutors had mishandled key evidence in the 2007 shooting and violated the guard’s constitutional rights therefore compelling him to dismiss the case.

I cannot speak to the merits of the case, but regardless of the how’s and the why’s, seventeen people being gunned down as they walked the streets of Baghdad by forces under US employ certainly indicates somebody is responsible for something.

But that’s not how it works in our court system. You can be guilty as hell but if the prosecution makes a legal mistake in their efforts to convict you, you walk out of court a free man. Do the initials O.J. ring a bell? A member of Simpson’s famed defense team was F. Lee Bailey. I recall back in the early 1970’s while promoting his book “The Defense Never Rests” Bailey made an appearance on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. During his interview he stated quite plainly that if you could afford a defense like he could provide, you were almost assured of an acquittal, but if you were poor and unable to mount that kind of defense you may as well “bring your toothbrush to court because you are going to jail”.

The Obama administration can feign outrage at the technical dismissal of the Blackwater guards and put on a good show by appealing the decision but this court case clearly displays the insanity of their decision to prosecute Islamic terrorists in the federal court system rather than by a military panel. Be assured these terrorists will be given an F. Lee Bailey type defense.

In the media frenzied trial that awaits to prosecute these murderous zealots, a trial that will cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars in legal defense and increased security costs for all involved, the terrorists will not actually be on trial but rather their captors will. The defense will demand access to top secret intelligence and the CIA interrogators, who have dedicated their lives to protecting this country, will be the ones whose actions are scrutinized. These Islamic fascists, whose sole purpose in life is to kill Americans, will be afforded all of the same constitutional rights as the natural born American citizens they seek to kill. Their legal defense team will mount a defense by calling into question the constitutionality of every action that has been taken against them and every interrogator that has ever spoken to them. If they are successful, evil will walk out the door of the federal courthouse in New York City and, much like many of those released from Guantanamo Bay for repatriation, they will be free to pick up where they left off in their plans of mass murder and national destruction.

Our court system was designed to adjudicate American laws. It was never intended to prosecute acts of war. If the Blackwater guards had been tried by the military that subcontracted them there is a pretty good chance all those involved would have pled guilty or been found guilty by the standards of military law.

The world will be watching and our enemies will be taking notes as we prosecute the masterminds of the 9-11 attacks as if they had shoplifted from the gift shop of the World Trade Center and Pentagon rather than flown passenger loaded planes into them. The same holds true for the now infamous Christmas Day Nigerian Underpants Bomber, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, a guy recruited by terrorists released from Guantanamo Bay. The legal precedent set by the Obama administration in using the courts will affect how we deal with our enemies for many years to come.

Does any of this make you feel safe? Not me.

Maybe that’s the CHANGE he was talking about.

The truth is that everything I am about to say is a lie.

That is pretty much what I took away from VP Joe Footinmouth’s recent foray onto the cable news channels and network news shows. Big Joe, it seems, is becoming the point man for the Obama administrations newest “The dog ate my homework” excuse-a-thon.

Amazingly the Veep was able to keep a straight face as he wound his fairy tale of blameless surprise to the receptive ears of the ABC (All Barack Channel) News. Having spent over a year describing the economic conditions as “the worst since the Great Depression” Joe now stated “The truth is, there was a misreading of just how bad an economy we inherited.” Footinmouth used the phrase “the truth is” numerous times, almost as if he was trying to get himself to believe it.

Just to make a quick counterpoint to the Vice President’s hand-washing economic description, the economy we have today is not the economy the Obama administration inherited. It’s worse. A lot worse.

Obama spent almost the entire last year of the campaign hammering away at how truly dismal the economy was and how he and his economic plan were the only salvation to avoid double digit unemployment and national economic ruin. The Chosen One touted his powerhouse roster of economic advisors including Wall Street icon Warren Buffet as being on board to help guide him through these murky waters. Are we to understand now that these economic guru’s misled or misread the economy? Are we to believe that Obama was somehow kept in the dark about the economy he was describing as catastrophic on a daily basis? Is Big Joe now telling us that Congress and the Obama administration passed a 1500 page, $787 billion “stimulus” bill without knowing what shape the economy was in? Perhaps my age is catching up with me but I thought I remembered something about a really bad economy being the reason for the stimulus.

The justification for the passage of the biggest government spending debacle in history was that without it the economy would continue to decline. The spending bill passed and the economy has continued to decline unabated. We needed it to keep unemployment from surpassing 8%. The current unemployment rate is 9.5% and rising. We needed it so that a myriad of “shovel ready projects” could get the immediate funding necessary to save jobs. Since its passage the country has lost an additional 2 million jobs and only a small fraction of the money (about 7%) has been made available.

Every ominous warning about this drunken sailor spending spree undertaken by the Obama administration is coming to pass with even more dire consequences than anticipated. The Congressional Budget Office warned prior to passage that only 20% of the money designated for “shovel ready projects” would be available prior to the close of the fiscal year. In fact it appears that number will be closer to 11%.

The so called stimulus has done nothing to improve the economy and if anything has made the economic forecast worse. Even in the face of improved manufacturing forecasts, companies are laying off workers rather than rehiring them out of fear of the impending multi-trillion dollar deficit. Liberals may be fooled into believing that government spending is paid by magic but businesses know the money has to come from somewhere and that somewhere is the taxpayers’ and businesses pockets. Less money in the consumer’s pocket means less spending on the businesses products and more taxes on the business means less money for payroll.

And how does the Obama administration justify the failure of this multi-trillion dollar debt and non-stimulating stimulus spending package? By avowing that they didn’t know the gun was loaded and now, in an act of incomprehensible ineptness, suggesting yet another untenable stimulus spending package is in order.

The truth is you cannot spend your way out of debt.

The truth is that the more money the government pulls out of the economy to pay for their spending spree the longer it will take to recover.

The truth is that this administration left unchecked has the real possibility to not only delay economic recovery but collapse the economy all together.

That’s the truth, Joe.
